Fundraiser – Board of Non-Executive Directors

ABColombia is looking for a new fundraiser to join the Board of Non-Executive Directors.

Job Description:

As Fundraiser, you will assist in designing a fundraising strategy and providing advice to the highly successful advocacy group of five leading British and Irish development agencies working on Colombia. The group is hosted by CAFOD and answers to the Member organisations.

This is a voluntary position with expenses paid, requiring a commitment of 1-2 days a month and attendance at quarterly Board meetings and, if possible, the ABColombia annual planning meeting. 

You will contribute to the work of the Board which was established in January 2008 and currently comprised of seven non-executive directors, one of whom is a representative of the member agencies. 

Working in partnership with the Programme and Advocacy Manager and one other member of staff, Member organisations and the Non-Executive Directors you will:

  • Research possible funders
  • Contributing to and advise on a fundraising strategy for the organisation.
  • Advise the board and staff about different ways and approaches to raising funds
  • Working with the Board and ABColombia Staff advise on a fundraising strategy.
  • Help with writing fundraising applications
  • Help with monitoring reports for funders

Person Specification:

We are looking for someone who has expertise fundraising for small organisations and experience and understanding of working in networks and committees.

You will need a background in fundraising and the skills to develop a strategy and put together successful funding applications and experience of monitoring work. 

You need to be willing to be available to staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis.

You will need good independent judgement together with the ability to work as a member of a team.

You will need a commitment to the respect of human rights and development, an interest in Colombia/Latin America would be an advantage.
